I’m Robin, founder and principal designer of Host House.

The idea for Host House started with an outdated cabin in desperate need of some TLC. We purchased the A-frame in Lake Tahoe, fully renovated it, and transformed it into a vacation rental, furnishing every room, stocking every drawer, and learning firsthand how overwhelming it is to prepare an empty home from afar. There was no single resource that brought it all together: the furniture, the linens, the kitchenware, the finishing touches. I had to source everything individually, fill my car to the brim endless weekends in a row, drive round trip 600 miles each time, make hundreds of decisions, and simply figure it out as I went.

So I built the resource I wished had existed years ago. What started as a curated home shop in Carmel-by-the-Sea where I hand-selected every ceramic, every linen, every candle, has evolved into a full-service interior design studio specializing in vacation rentals, second homes, and investment properties.

Before Host House, I spent over two decades building a career that shapes everything I do today. After studying Chinese and Business in school, I started at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, where I spent five years managing 150+ events per year and producing private events for world leaders including former U.S. Presidents and Secretaries of State. From there I spent seven years at Target Corporation, where I led a team producing 50+ events per year before being recruited to Toronto to build Target Canada's Brand Marketing and Events team from the ground up. Under my leadership, Target Canada was named one of the Top Ten Marketers of the Year and the number one Event Brand in Canada. After relocating to California in 2013, I founded Robin Sevrina Events and ran it for a decade, producing weddings, private events, and corporate experiences throughout California.

Every role taught me the same core skills I now bring to interior design: creative direction, vendor and budget management, large-scale logistics, and the ability to take a vision from concept to flawless execution. Designing a home and producing a large-scale event are more alike than most people realize. Both require thousands of details to come together seamlessly, on time, and on budget, so the end result feels effortless.

My approach is holistic. I don't just design rooms, I prepare entire homes. From foundational furniture through everyday essentials, every detail is curated so your property feels layered, welcoming, and guest-ready from the moment you arrive. I source from over 150 independent brands and also hold approved retailer lines with Four Hands furniture, Loloi rugs, and Pom Pom at Home linens among others.
